The Owl children have enjoyed lots of autumnal activities this week. We have been looking at the story "we're going on a leaf hunt" so the children have hunted for leaves in the garden, have been filling up the builders tray full of leaves and jumping in it. We have also had lots of fun with conkers, picking them up with tweezers, rolling them down tubes and counting them.
Hedgehogs this week have continued looking at and explore activities based around the story 'We're going on a bear hunt!' We have painted our own bear masks, focusing on the colours red and brown! Created our own cave as well as making our very own snow with the shaving foam and baking soda, watching the footprints made from our small world figures. We have also created our very own bear using plenty of edible resources which the Hedgehogs were very keen to get involved in! What another lovely week!
This week the Squirrels have been continuing to explore the theme Autumn We went on a leaf hunt linked to our core text 'We're Going on a Leaf Hunt' The children recited the words from the book and moved their bodies in different ways around the garden. We went up a mountain, crossed a lake, went around a waterfall and squelched through the forest! We have created many different autumnal pictures using corks, flowers, apples, glue and our hands! Today is World Mental Health day. This term we have been exploring emotions and have been explaining to our children that it is ok to feel all these big emotions. We have been supporting them to regulate and communicate their emotions in a healthy way. Our little people have made us so proud
The Owl children have had a wonderful week. We have been enjoying exploring our Autumn resources- counting leaves and conkers and matching numbers. We have also been making paper plate foxes, pinecone painting and decorating biscuits. The children have again been having lots of fun as role play hair stylists, pretending to do each others hair. Today the children spent a long time constructing a train track and setting up a little village around it.
This week, Hedgehogs have started reading and looking at activities based around the story 'We're going on a bear hunt!'. We have enjoyed participating in lots of messy play activities, such as creating our own edible mud to explore in as well as creating some sensory bags filled with grass, twigs and shaving foam. Hedgehogs have also enjoyed watching the storybook on the tablet so they can listen to the sounds and watch a variety of the actions!
This week the Squirrels have been exploring the theme ' Space' linked to 'World Space Week'. We have decorated different planets, made alien masks and discussed the different planets in the solar system This week we also started our new core text ' We're Going on a Leaf Hunt'
This week in owls we have been continuing with our Colour monster theme. The children have been identifying colours by building with the mega blocks, they also had some coloured lollipop sticks to match to the different colour monsters. The children have had a lot of fun with the hair dressing box, taking turns to be hair stylist and the customer. Some of the children ended the week by chilling in the tyres in the garden, the even spotted an aeroplane flying over.
This week, the Hedgehogs have enjoyed their final week of reading 'Hug!' We have made the most of exploring with the variety of animals, leaves and twigs in the story to represent the animals exploring in the forest. We have also been looking at emotions this week and have made our very own emotion handprints which we have been referencing back to throughout the sessions. This week has helped us all to develop our communication and language skills through many methods such as looking at stories, playing and dancing to nursery rhymes and using our emotion handprints. Well done Hedgehogs
This week the Squirrels have been continuing to explore the story ' The Colour Monster'. We have been discussing all of the different emotions and linking it to our daily lives e.g. what makes us happy, what makes us sad etc. As a class we have decided to incorporate The Colour Monster into our daily learning as the children have been engaging so well and have been expressing their emotions in healthy way. Next week we will be starting our new core text ' We Are Going on a Leaf Hunt'
