The children in the Owl room have had a very exciting week looking at our caterpillars, watching them grow bigger and bigger until they have spun into their chrysalis. Hopefully next week we will watch them hatch and see the transformation into beautiful butterflies!

This week in the owls room we have focused on the letter 't' during our phonics sessions. They have used great determination and repetition to learn the letter and the sound it makes. They really enjoyed using our smart board to take it in turns naming things that began with the letter 't' and then drawing them. The children have also been practicing their name writing and have gotten really good at this. We have also looked at patterns and creating images using mosaic pieces. This week has been our last week reading 'we're going on a bear hunt' the children done really well to learn this story and have engaged in some lovely activities surrounding this.

We welcomed back all of our Hedgehogs this week after the half term and we've already had a lovely start to our Summer Term! We have started looking at our new story 'Baby Sunflower', which focuses on how a sunflower grows and the movements they make. This week, we have made our own Sunflower paintings using potato mashers and toilet roll tubes, explored in the sensory tray, creating our own sunflower pictures in here, focused on the colours Green and Yellow as well as with our older children, strengthening their pincer grips with the pens, encouraging them to create a variety of patterns

The past few weeks the Squirrels have been exploring activities based around the story 'SuperWorm' . We have been developing our fine motor skills through pencil control sheets, different sensory trays and been on bug hunts in the garden! This term we have seen such a development in turn taking, sharing and working together. It has been so lovely to observe how our Squirrels are communicating with each other and how they have been negotiating and resolving conflict between themselves. From all of us in the Squirrels Class, we wish you all a lovely Bank Holiday weekend

Last Friday we welcomed our parents into nursery for a Stay and Play session, based around the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.

Over the past few weeks, The Hedgehogs have been reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar!' The children have been keen to shout out the variety of foods as well as watching the practitioners and their friends count all of the fruits on our hands whilst reading We have been creating our own caterpillar face, learning our colours, exploring with the paints on our sensory tables, developing our fine motor skills with the tweezers and pipettes, threading pasta onto pipe cleaners and many more fun activities! What a lovely end to Summer term 1! Summer term 2 brings many more enjoyments to our Hedgehogs, new stories, the start of room transitions and plenty more learning!

What a lovely stay and play session we had today. The theme was the story of "The very hungry caterpillar". We had lots of lovely activities for our families to enjoy.

What a busy week we have had in the Owl room this week! The children have been playing lots of letter matching games. Learning the sound "aaa"and recognising the letter A. The children have been matching compare bears and following patterns, and using the tweezers to pick up the bears. We also created the swirling whirling snowstorm with cornflour and shaving foam.
